disneydream06: (Dracula)

I just finished reading Dracula by Bram Stoker.

It was a pretty good read, although some times a little tough like when reading Van Helsing's entries. Not sure if it was written in a way someone from Amsterdam would speak or what, but it was a little tough to understand some times.
It didn't help that many times when I was "reading" I was also EXTREMELY tired and fighting to not fall asleep. LOL.......

It was an interesting read in that it was written in the form of diary entries from the different characters. Well, not Dracula. He was actually in the book very little, physically.

I think it would be pretty cool if someone would make a movie, or tell me of one, more directly from the book.

Spanish filmmaker Jess Franco attempted a faithful-to-the-book film version "Count Dracula" in 1970 with Christopher Lee and Herbert Lom. They had script and budget problems and the film was not what it set out to be. This is one of those books that would probably be 3-4 hours if done exactly as written....not that I would mind. I started reading this a long time ago and got bogged down with the structure (as you had issues with also). Someday I'll actually get through this one!

Even thought the accent and appearance are "wrong", I still like the Louis Jourdan BBC version best.

They're great too. Aside from that...thing that Coppola did with Gary Oldman, there isn't really a Dracula movie I haven't liked at least a little....

Actually, 1966's "Billy the Kid vs Dracula" and 1969's "Blood of Dracula's Castle" stunk to the high heavens. Me no like those!!!

Don't think I know that one.
Does Crazy Cruise's movie count? Or not because it wasn't Dracula?
Thank goodness. :)

Eddie Murphy's "Vampire in Brooklyn" was not all that good either...
