Movie Reviews......
Jun. 2nd, 2010 06:07 amI went to see Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time last night.
It is apparently based on a video game. No clue about that because I don't play them.
It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince Dastan, a street urchin who is taken in by the King of Persia.
When the three sons are grown, they are tricked into invading a Holy City. This brings Dastan into contact with the Pricess of the City and a very special dagger that can turn back time.
The movie is a great action movie. The love story is very minor. It's more of a tension between Dastan and the Princess.
The cinematography, location shots, and special effects are really great.
There is a little lull towards the end, but most movies have a tendency to do that, but it picks up and ends well.
I will admit to being biased. It's a Disney movie, and Jake looks great.
I would give it an A-.

I picked up the dvd of Alice in Wonderland and watched it this morning.
I got the BluRay, DVD, Combo pack. Listed price is $39.99. It was on sale for $26.99, and I had a $10.00 coupon.
To be honest, I am glad I didn't pay full price.
I think they spent more time on the special effects and stylings of the movie then they did the storyline.
It's not a remake of Alice in Wonderland. It's a continuation of the story. Alice returns to Wonderland. She of course doesn't remember being there until well into the movie.
Great cast but kind of wasted here. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Stephen Fry, Alan Rickman.
I am partial to Carter's Red Queen. The character is funny. Depp is okay. Nothing overly special. Hathaway's White Queen could use some sugar or caffiene. lol...
It didn't really hold my interest.
Well, like I said I paid $16.99 for three versions of the movie, so I am okay with it.
Another Disney movie, but not one of thier better ones.
I guess I would give it a C+.
