Strike One for Sarah.............

This is sort of surprising. Earlier, we told you about Sarah Palin's pick for Alaska's attorney general, and how he compared gays to lima beans because he hates them. Well, his confirmation hearing was today, and he was denied!

JUNEAU - The Alaska Legislature voted 35 to 23 today to reject the confirmation of Wayne Anthony Ross, Gov. Sarah Palin's pick for attorney general. According to Legislative Research, today's rejection of Ross is the first time in state history that a head of a state agency has failed to be confirmed by the Legislature. All the Democrats in the Legislature voted against Ross, but they were joined by nine Republicans, including the Senate president and House speaker. Even Ross' opponents in the Legislature had said only a few days ago that he had enough support to be confirmed despite huge opposition from Native groups, his calling gays "degenerates" in the 1990s, and allegations that he made offensive comments about women.

Looks like it's back to the drawing board for Governor Snowbilly. And remember, uh, this was her first pick.

For Sarah's sake, I bet she hopes her next pick will have his views hidden in his closet. :p

maybe if he was a tax cheat like so many of Obama's nominees, things would have been different. Good to see he got the boot & some people in Alaska have standards...

Dude, he didn't say he hates gays. I know he's not particularly fond of us, but I don't think it's fair for you to stretch what he said into "I hate gays." Dislike or disagreement does not equal hate - and if you actually read the analogy, he's saying that his personal feelings would not get in the way of his impartiality were he to have been confirmed as attorney general.

Isn't that like a Republican saying they are open minded about Choice?

First off, I know several republicans who are pro-choice - just as I know democrats who are pro-life. And second, no, I really don't think it's the same thing. Let's flip the coin, shall we? I belive - STRONGLY - in the separation of church and state. But that doesn't mean I am for discrimination against Christians or impeding their right to practice their faith.

And that doesn't change the fact that, as I said, disagreement or dislike does not equal "hating gays," as you put it.

Well, technically in my defense, I didn't say he hated gays. That was part of the article that I copied.

Fair enough...though nowhere in your post do you say it's from an article :)

I guess I just assumed that from the way it was written it didn't look like my writing. It's a little deceiving with that paragraph coming ahead of the title of the main article. Sorry...
