I opened my email after getting up this evening and there was a note from my nurse manager.
The nurses on our station are still only at 56% of us having gotten the flu shot. She then preceeded to question our loyalty to our patients and our families.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because I didn't want to get a flu shot I am some how not a loyal employee or family member? I was trying to build up the nerve to approach her face to face about this. That email is way beyond insulting.
Then I come in to work tonight, and I was half way expecting to have to float. With the holidays our patient count goes WAY down, and many stations will close. My station being one of them. Of course my station doesn't need the holidays to close, but that is another subject. Anyway, I got to work tonight, and sure enough, I was down to float. They kept 3 nurses on my station for 9 whole patients. Again, I say, WTF... It seems that one of the nurse is now on lifting restrictions. So what. So instead of one nurse sitting there with 3 patients and another with 6(which should be closer to a normal night load) they have 3 nurses sitting there with 3 patients a piece. Heaven forbid a nurse float when we can get rid of the nursing assistant.
Well, needless to say this is probably the beginning of a good three weeks of my floating and babysitting other stations nutcases. My station will probably close today or tomorrow, and will stay closed until some time in January. I would rather be out on a very busy station than to be sitting with confused patients. Some people like it, but I can't stand it. They are either very quiet and you have nothing to do, or they are completely wacked out and are trying to beat the crap out of you. Tonight's isn't completely quiet, but so far she isn't too bad.
Well, that is enough complaining for now. :p
So what do you all think. Should I email my nurse manager and tell her how upset her email made me?
