A MASSIVE W.T.F. to my computer this morning.
I usually just leave my computer in sleep mode when I am not using it.
It will occasionally get a little sluggish and I would just shut it off and night and usually the next morning it's running fine again.
Last night I shut it off when I went to work and came home this morning and turned it back on.
One little problem with that...
It completely wiped out everything on my computer.
Everything is gone.
All the windows I had open are gone.
All my bookmarks are gone.
All the things that autoloaded like passwords and entry titles here all that kind of stuff, is gone.
ALL MY PICTURES I HAD ON HERE ARE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
W.T.F.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 2024-08-08 03:05 pm (UTC)Did you do a correct shut down? Had it been claiming there was an update pending? What operating system is it running?
Is it Intel based? There have been some really bad problems with Intel chips and motherboards recently...

Date: 2024-08-09 06:38 am (UTC)I just shut it down because it was acting a little sluggish.
Somebody suggested try rebooting it again, and it actually worked. Everything is back on my computer.

Date: 2024-08-08 06:28 pm (UTC)You can check to see if your files still exist by navigating to This PC -> Windows(C) -> Users ->(whatever your username is) If you can see them there then you're likely in a temporary profile. If they're there, and you can't get your normal profile back, you can always copy them over to a new one.
First try rebooting and logging into your account again. Keep an eye for a notification saying you've been logged on with a temporary profile.
EDIT: I forgot to include trying to switch users back to your 'real' account. Hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and choose Switch User
Others might know better options than me, but it would probably be a good idea to boot into safe mode, then reboot normally and see if Windows repairs your profile.
