Update.....

I got my vehicle back from the mechanic...

It was a case of Good News/Bad News...

The good news, the alternator tested okay. YAY.......

The bad news, the battery was beyond dead.

So, $190 later, I have a new battery and a running vehicle.

Let's hope that's it for awhile...

Easier to replace the battery than the alternator anyway.

And then had to replace the alternator. UGH!!!!!!!!!!

It could have been either. The fact that it started after a jump could have indicated the rectifier on the alternator had failed, OR a bad battery. Here in the Southwest, you're lucky to get much more than 2-3 years out of a battery. I don't know how long they last up there.

And it ended up being both got replaced. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear. Well I guess cheaper than a new alternator. I hope that is IT for awhile with that car, yes!
