Observation 101.....

I am watching the first episode of the tv show The Tunnel.
I believe it's a British show.
It's a police drama involving the British and French police trying to find a serial killer.

I have an observation about cop shows...
Does anybody know why female cops, when paired up with male cops, are always so young, and such hard asses?

The lead French cop is a female that looks like she's about 20 and acts like she hates everything and everybody, especially the British male lead cop.

Are audiences not capable of handling balanced characterizations?

Sadly, I work next weekend, and not sure if I will be able to see/find episode 2. Ugh...

I think it's an accurate sort of depiction about how institutionally sexist and misogynistic the police are- it's assumed that any woman joining has to be hard.
