I wrapped up No. 49 this morning. :)
I read "A Christmas Story" by Jean Shepherd.
It's the book that the movie "A Christmas Story" is based on.
The book is actually a collection of short stories that Mr. Shepherd combined to make the movie version.

Ah, 'Jean' is a woman's name here. It's also the French form of 'John', of course, hence my question as to his nationality. I know Americans abbreviate 'Eugene' to 'Gene' - the spelling foxed me!

it was a made for tv special

I think it was actually a theatrical release originally, but it kind of bombed at the box office.

It's a great movie. I highly recommend it.
It's about a little boy who wants a BB gun for Christmas and all the trials and tribulations he goes through to get it. It's set back in the Depression era a much more innocent time. I can't imagine how crass it would be if set in present time. :o

he was on NYC radio
i started listening as an impressionable teenager
his style, his outlook formed part of my own
i am proud to say i wrote a piece, sent it to him and he read it on the radio

I just read tonight that Michigan's attorney general is suing to stop the recount there, and he is of course a Cheeto supporter. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
