Book Reading.......
Nov. 25th, 2016 11:47 pmI finally finished up book No. 48.
I read "Narcissus in Chains" by Laurell K. Hamilton. It's the next Anita Blake Vampire Hunter book. All 630 pages of slightly smaller then normal sized print. More of that and I am definitely going to have to look into getting glasses or at least reading glasses. :o
In the big picture, the book moved the story of Anita, her lovers, and friends along quite a bit, but it really wasn't one of my favorite books from the series so far. A good portion of the book read more like a porn novel then vampire hunter book.
It was great to see Nathaniel, a wereleopard, start to stick up for himself. Hopefully he will start being less of a masochist.
A new character, Gil, was added. Gil is a werefox, and seems to maybe be taking Nathaniel's old role of the super timid person in the group.
Sadly, her relationship with Richard, the head werewolf of the city, seems to have finally broken off completely. Richard is a complete HOTTIE, and I always picture Joe Manganiello in the part. Kind of convenient as he played a werewolf in the True Blood series on HBO. :p But Richard has never really accepted his "monster" side, and has never accepted Anita's black and white out look on life. If you are a good guy, Anita will have your back through anything. If you are a bad guy, Anita will not blink and eye to kill you. Richard is full of too many morals for his own good.
An annoying thing about this books is the author tends to wrap things up in the last few pages. That was another case this time. 630 pages, and the story line was wrapped up in the last 20 pages or so. :o
WOW, this is the only Anita book that I have read this year. :o
Now that I have caught up with the Stephanie Plum series except the newest on, maybe it's time to start catching up with Anita. I hope they aren't all 630 pages long. :o
