Nov. 5th, 2015 04:50 amLast Friday I had a couple of xrays done of my right foot because my heel had been hurting a lot again. My actual doctor's appointment isn't until Nov. 23, you know because we wouldn't want to rush anything. :o
Anyway, Monday somebody from the Clinic called while I was sleeping. They told dad they would call back Tuesday morning after I got home from work.
Of course they didn't.
The only thing I could think somebody would be calling about was the xrays. So when I was at work I took a look to see what if anything it showed.
I have a Prominent Achilles Calcaneal Bone Spur. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No wonder my heel hurts so much when I am driving. It probably sits right on the spur. :o
Anyway, the Clinic called Wednesday morning and it was the nurse from my regular doctor's office. He wanted to know if I had heard about the xray results, or I had probably looked for myself. Yes, I did. :p Anyway, my doctor wants me to keep my appointment with the foot clinic. SERIOUSLY????? I think that deserves a great big DUH, Yes, I think I will keep the appointment. :o
Sadly, I don't hold a lot of hope for said appointment.
Unless you are 90 years old and half dead, they take the most conservative approach to healthcare here. UGH........... I can see them now suggesting I try heel lifts. What is that going to do? The spur will just sit higher in my shoe. I have also tried a heel lift previously for some foot issue, and the only thing it accomplished was my walking differently and my little toe rubbing so hard in my shoe that when I took it off in the morning after working, my little toe was bleeding and actually numb. There is a slight numbness still there. So I am not a fan of heel lifts.
Not that I want surgery on it, but I am curious as to what else might be done.
I barely drive a block down the road and my heel hurts like hell. I never use to use the cruise control on my car, but if I have drive any long distance I use it so I can rest my foot back. :o
Wish there was some way to show you my xray. lol... It looks like I have a little horn sticking off the back of my heel. :p

altho I expect you've already looked into it thoroughly. I hope something can be done about it.
I also looked up pictures of this condition, some of them looked really awful!

Date: 2015-11-05 02:35 pm (UTC)Fingers crossed tightly that they will offer some kind of treatment other then, You need to stretch it and take some Ibuprofin. Neither of which will make a bone spur go away. :o

Date: 2015-11-06 03:22 am (UTC)I think waits for optical appointments are usually more like months long.
Mother wants more and more patients, but it's not balanced with more and more of the right doctors. UGH.......

Date: 2015-12-01 08:39 pm (UTC)Seems like surgery would be the logical step. Bone doesn't go away on its own usually. Hope you get some relief.
