Ok this is my opinion. Yes the shop owner was right on all cases except I don't think the sign should have said "asshole" just for the sake of professionalism as a business. The rest of the sign is perfect though!

I like how one of the comments says you won't have enough customers without assholes. Anyone who works with the public can attest to that:)

well, Jon, in a hair salon, it's a different environment. The owner can turn away anyone they like so you DON'T have to put up with the assholes like that.

Maybe it's wrong to say, but it's nice to see our side not turning the other cheek for a change. :)

I think more gay places need to stick up for themselves like that. :)

they really should.

it's sad though that they need to make a statement like that.
I mean, being different is not an option you choose for. You don't wake up and tell yourself: 'hey let's be gay from now on!!'
I wished more people understood

My arguement has always been, who would "choose" to be hated so much by so many people?
Being gay is not a choice. Not unless they can prove they Choose to be heterosexual. ARGH........

I have a story to share along a similar topic, though not the same. Before I left France to come to the US this time around, I went to a gay hair salon to get my hair colored. When I was on the internet looking for a salon, this one stated, in French, that it was the leading gay salon in Paris and I thought it was strange for them to sell it like that but then I understood better when I got there. The salon did not look like one but more of a gay night club. There was a disco ball hanging from the ceiling, very loud house music playing and all the men there were dressed in either tight tank/mesh tops and jeans or flamboyant colors abound. I only had 2 problems with this environment and again, this is coming from a professional point of view AND possibly an older one (being that I am 46). The music was way too loud for a hair salon AND in the magazine racks were gay bondage magazines. Obviously, they are catering to a VERY specific and young clientele but as a business, I think they need to look at the broader picture. Keep the look of a gay salon but do they need to pigeonhole themselves that much?
