it's just our southern way of life

as for the Colorado incident - it's a divided state
I'm not sure coming out in your valedictory address is a good idea but it could have been handled MUCH better
it really isn't the place for coming out and could have subjected him to some unwanted harassment in Colorado

in view of a recent scandal Rutgers isn'r exactly the safest place for blatant coming out either
some one needs to talk to this young man about discretion for his own safety

the problem with coming out publicly it makes it possible for the crazies to find you

the young think they can take on the world
they want to make a statement
but the crazies can be brutal and it can be turned against the family

no one should be in the closet who wants be to out
but what does it mean to be out?
to live one's life openly?
how many people need to know for the individual to live authentically?

i would like it if our society would be accepting enough that young people could have "coming out parties"
Friends and family gather to celebrate a young person's claiming their identity

if girls have "Sweet Sixteen Parties " - Latinas have Quinceras - Girls used to "come out to society" ( take their place on the marriage market)
why not Coming Out Party
