I went to the movies last night with my good friend Kevin, thirteenrocks.
We saw the movie, "Woman in Gold".
It stars Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds. It's the true story of Maria Altmann, an Austrian Jewish woman who escaped the Nazis when they took over Austria, who sues the Austrian government to retrieve family paintings that were stolen by the Nazis. The "Woman in Gold" is a portrait of Maria's aunt. The portrait has since become Austria's version of the Mona Lisa. So of course they are not willing to part with it, even if it was stolen property.
Maria is played by Helen Mirren, and her lawyer, Randol Schoenberg, is played by Ryan Reynolds.
The story is beautifully filmed and stunningly told. It's a very emotional story, and even though I knew the outcome, I was still crying at the end.

Grade: A+, Two Thumbs Up, 5 out of 5 Stars...
