No. 1: Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever nabbed the top spot on this list with his typically sweet, friendly, people-pleasing personality. He tends to get along well with just about anyone, including strangers, children and new dogs. People are often drawn to Goldens for their smiling faces and beautiful (although not maintenance free) coats, but it’s generally the breed’s enthusiasm for life and gentle, loving temperament that really seal the deal. Just don’t expect your Golden to become a watchdog; he’s far more likely to befriend a stranger and lure that person into giving him treats than he is to run someone off.

Gilles wants one. I had one with the ex and though she was very sweet, she was inbred so a bit crazy, especially with how self-destructive she was during storms and fireworks. She tore doors apart and even with 5 valium, she could not be still! If G and I do get a dog, though, I am thinking Corgie or King Charles Cavalier :)

Awww a Golden won how sweet. I used to have this friend who had one and while she was at work her dog would hop nieghborhood fences and swim in a fw of her neighbors pools, they did not care for that but we laughed and laughed!

And I see a darling Beagle won Best in show. Those dogs are kind of crazy but adorable, we had one once.

We-my friends, are often glad when the Afghan hounds do not win as there are already so many of them in rescue with their high maintenance coats.

We have a Golden, Maggie. She just turned a year old on Jan. 14th. So she still has a ton of puppy energy. lol...

We have three dogs although the city says we can only have two, they are all from Afghan Hound rescue but only one if all Afghan, hee hee!

Yes it is a city law. And the third dog was a mistake. I drove up a few hours North from here to pick up a rescue from someone and the dog bonded with me in the car and would not go to the new home. It kept trying to run away so they brought her back to me, lol. She is the very sweetest dog in the world, Sparkles

I think so! She really stole my heart. She was running away from everyone and she is like velcro to me right from the beginning. Maybe a past life thingy ;-)

Golden Retrievers are great! I miss having a dog sometimes. I'd want an American Pit Bull, though; I just love that breed to bits.
