Not that I would EVER vote Republican, but the Democratic Party is REALLY close to losing me right now.
Rachel Maddow is reporting that the Democrats in the Senate will not bring up for a vote President Obama's nomination for US Attorney General because..... They don't have enough time to vote on it during the Lame Duck session before the Republicans take control next year.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basically they are dooming the United States to not have an Attorney General because the Republicans will not allow any nominations of Obama's to go through.

We, and I mean the whole country, are doomed.

Already done

We (the United states) have a two party system that does nothing but bicker back and forth.

We have a class system that keeps the poor, poor, and the mega rich..rich.

We have "expired" senators, and elected goverment officials that should be retired and on social security, who have been in positions WAY to long. TERM LIMITS AND AGE LIMITS PEOPLE!!

AND we have people who are paid to sit on the TV and tell us what to do with the goverment (O'Reily factor, ect), that doesn't DO anything, and nothing gets done.

My suggestion: reset.

Good idea.

But there's doubt they will leave voluntarily on their own...

I haven't been a big fan of term limits, but at the rate things are going, I think they should all be forced to "retire" now. :o

Well, not only a term limit, but a limit until which age they can sit in important positions.
That's also strange here, you have an age set which you can go into retirement, but obviously it doesn't apply to parliamentarians. Or how could Schäuble still be in a position? This guy has spent more years in the Bundestag than he's spent outside of it. (His first election into it was 1972.)

I suppose the trouble with saying that none of us now have to retire at a given age means that the politicians and judges think that applies to them too!

Sadly I don't think they ever have had mandatory retirement ages. :o

As it happens someone's put a motion up for debate here which would limit a PM to two five year terms.

Good luck. There are a few places over here that have term limits, but nothing nation wide.
