OOPS........

A coworker pointed out to me last night after watching the repeat of the Olympic coverage that the gymnast I was whining about in yesterday's entry wasn't the same one that didn't make the all around.
The gymnast that blew it on the vault was basically on the team because she was super good on the vault and was therefore expected to take the gold.
She blew her chances and then proceeded to pout.
Which just proves my point that these girls are not mature enough to be competing on this level.
That or it's typical US ego that we have to win everything?

I'm thinking it's a bit of both, Jon. We, as Americans, expect to win everything and be the "end all, be all" of everything. Just how we are. It's programmed into us from an early age. Which leads to the second half of what I'm saying...they are like, what, seventeen? Way too young.

I highly recommend the book "Little Girls in Pretty Boxes."
After reading it, I could barely watch gymnastics again.
It's child abuse, and I'm not surprised that it turns out girls lacking in basic social skills.
