Is Wisconsin taking lessons from Old Chicago voting?????

Another Loss For Walker In Wisconsin
posted by: Jessica Pieklo

Wisconsin Democrats appear to have kept the momentum from their occupation of Madison, as Steve Doyle defeated Republican John Lautz for the Wisconsin District 94 Assembly, flipping a seat held by Republicans for 16 years.

The race largely focused attention on Gov. Scott Walker's union-busting efforts and plans to privatize a significant amount of the state's public services.

Doyle was declared the winner late Tuesday evening. With about 92 percent of the precincts reporting, Doyle was the projected winner with 54 percent of the vote to Lautz's 46.

Despite the win Democrats will remain the minority in the state's Assembly.

Mike Huebsch previously held the seat until Gov. Walker appointed him to serve as his secretary of administration. Huebsch had held the seat since 1994 and was a strong supporter of Gov. Walker and his initiatives.

Meanwhile the Wisconsin Supreme Court recount continues. Attorneys have been called in to monitor the efforts in Waukesha County after a clerk discovered that one of the bags full of ballots from the Town of Delafield was not properly sealed. That means there was the possibility that operatives could have had access to the bag of ballots.

Just a day before that discovery a different bag containing hundreds of ballots wasn't recorded on the poll inspector's log. That bag was also from Delafield.

Regardless of the outcome in the Supreme Court race, it should be apparent to Wisconsin Republicans that the public no longer stands behind their initiatives or their tactics. For Wisconsinites that means the possibility of more overtly aggressive moves as Republicans realize their days at the majority in Madison are likely numbered.
