King Abdullah returned home today to a Saudi Arabia seemingly moored in the eye of the storm howling from Libya to Bahrain. But reformers are intensifying calls for political change.

I don't agree with a lot that goes on in Saudi Arabia, but I am a monarchist. What's been going on for the past thirty or forty years is more like absolute monarchy than any of the actual monarchies in Europe.

I keep offering to be the monarch of the US for awhile until we could get things back on track again. So far no takers though. LOL...
I think in another life I was British. I am very big on your monarchy. :)

I meant to say what has been going on for the past thirty or forty years in North Africa and the Middle East. Those presidents are/were absolute monarchs in all but name. Our monarch has no real power, as such, but is head of state by consent of the people. I'm sure we'll become a republic one day (although we already have been once), but I do think the Queen has years of experience a politician will never have. I think there has been something like nine or so US presidents whilst she's been on the throne.
