I got an email from the Human Rights Campaign praising Sen. Obama for being such a great supporter of gay rights.
Never before have we had a chance to elect a President who proudly, openly stands up for GLBT equality.

I didn't realize that he was such a HUGE supporter of gay rights. The only thing I had heard about him on this subject was that he is AGAINST gay marriage.

So obviously, he is THAT huge of a gay rights supporter. Or am I just being hypercritical???

I've searched but can't find anything about the marriage amendment, for or against, But bits here and there are ...let's say slightly optimistic:

Obama will also pass the Fair Pay Act to ensure that women receive equal pay for equal work and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.

Expand Hate Crimes Statutes

Obama will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation, expand hate crimes protection by passing the Matthew Shepherd Act, and reinvigorate enforcement at the Department of Justice's Criminal Section.

It would be nice to have a DOJ that did the job they were suppose to do. :)

I had heard a report after Obama's and McCain's meeting a couple of weeks ago with that Texas preacher that they both were against gay marriage. Seems like I had heard it before that too.
Like I said, it's not a make or break issue as some others are. I realize gay marriage in this country has a long way to go yet. :)
Obama although not my first choice definitely has my backing. :)

Don't get your panties in a bunch

The gay marriage issue is quite complicated when one looks at the mess already in place.....

At the national goverment level (ie. President) there are bigger fish to fry than gay marriage...
