I drove up to the Twin Cities on Saturday after work to go car shopping. My friend, Chris, who lives up there offered to drive my rental back if I found a car.
I was looking at two particular cars that I found on the internet. One was a 1999 Cadillac Seville, my first choice. The other was a 1999 Cadillac deVille.
Naturally, the Seville was already gone when we got there. It had actually been sold earlier in the week. Excuse me, but couldn't you have taken it off the web site, so people wouldn't think it was still there? They had a nice 2001 Seville, but it was just a little out of my budget. DARN!!!
I called ahead to the other car dealer to see if the other one I was looking at was still available. It was. On the way over we swung through some other dealers to see if we could find any other Cadillacs available. No such luck.
We got over to the other dealer and looked at the deVille. It was nice, but it did/does have some wear on it. We took it for a test drive and it road really nice. I had warned my friend that after not getting the Seville I was going to really have to talk myself into buying the deVille. Sure enough, that is what happened. I himmed and hawwed for awhile. Eventually I just decided, I need a car and this one looked pretty nice. So I went for it.
We tagged teamed back to Rochester with the rental, and then I drove him back up to the Cities.
One my way back home, I hadn't even gotten half way there and the service engine soon light came on. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get I bought a lemon. Of course there weren't any mechanics open at that time of the day any more. So I went home to show mom and dad. They like it. :) Then we drove down to my older brother's to show it off. He told me about the mechanic that he goes to and gave me the phone number. Going back out to the car the front driver's side tire looked low. I thought it had looked a little low at the dealers, but didn't think anything about it. Now it was definitely low.
The next morning I went up to Kwik Trip early to avoid traffic and to fill the tire with air. Yeah, nothing happened. It didn't budge. So instead of taking it back home, I just drove it out to the mechanics place and left it sit there. Then when they opened I walked back out there and made an appointment to have it looked at. $20 later, the tire was fixed and they told me what was wrong with the warning light. I now have an appointment for next Monday to get that fixed. It's going to cost me approximately $400 plus labor. Thank goodness I didn't spend all the insurance money on buying the car. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, I am not really happy with that car dealer up in the Cities.
Please keep your fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong for some time to come. :o
