Just when you think things are going along okay for you...
My "new" tv died yesterday.
From what I can figure out the backlight went out.
I went and talked to the "famous" Geek Squad at Best Buy and their first suggestion, Buy a new tv.
Seriously, it's only, maybe two years old. :o
Otherwise I can pay them $150 to come pick it up and take it to their repair facility and who knows how much to actually fix it.
I asked, Don't you do in home repairs?
Oh no, we only set things up for you.
WORTHLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the moment I am watching things on my Nook tablet.
I am thinking about getting a Roku device to put on my other tv.
Then decide about dishing out for another new tv. UGH...
I did a google search for tv repairs in this area, and something like only two places came up. :o
One was Best Buy, and that's not happening, and the other place had a rating of 1 star, so that's questionable.
So I guess "smart" tvs are being built to be replaced like "smart" phones, every couple of years. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 2025-05-29 04:05 pm (UTC)Some TVs last. Ours is a Best Buy Insignia that I got in 2018, but it's not monster-big.

Date: 2025-05-31 02:43 pm (UTC)Just saw an email from Best Buy, didn't look at the details, advertising 55" TVs as low as $229. Dunno how big your dead one is.

Date: 2025-05-29 04:09 pm (UTC)We're still watching on an older tv that we got as a hand me down from our old housemate and her husband nearly a decade ago, that had been his main tv for probably 5-7 years or so before that. He basically got a bigger newer system when they got married and she moved in with him in their new house and they gave us his old one (with its chromecast 1). I really don't know the current tv market at all, but it sounds horrible if they only last a couple of years.
