A Day In The Life.......
Jul. 21st, 2020 12:48 amI come to all my friends again, already, asking for your prayers and good thoughts...
I spent most of Monday sitting in the ER and hospital room with my dad again.
He was trying to get up out of his chair in the livingroom and once he was finally up didn't have his balance and fell to the floor.
I must have been half awake when it happened because I heard the thud when he fell to the floor. I was awake in a heart beat and panicked that he had fallen down the basement stairs.
Thank God it wasn't that bad.
I was able to stand him up, but his Left knee hurt really bad.
I asked him if he thought he could make it out to my vehicle, if not I would need to call an ambulance. With some effort he did make it out to my vehicle. So that was a good sign to me that things weren't broken.
Once we were finally seen, he was obviously not considered emergent like last week, they took xrays of his knee, and then they did another CT scan, and then decided to do xrays of his ankle.
All of those came back negative for injuries/broken bones.
So that was fantastic news.
But the doctor wanted him to be admitted so that rehab therapy could work with him to get him safer to get around.
I'm not sure how many days that will take. It seems like it would take more then one visit, but who am I to say.
mrdreamjeans was kind enough to take my call at 10pm once I got home and let me vent on him.
He also suggested that we get a prescription for one of those "lift" chairs that lifts the person up to nearly standing position so they don't struggle to stand up.
I hope that we can get one of those.
I think we will also have to have that really tough conversation about dad giving up driving now. :(
Please, if you could, keep good thoughts for dad.

There are stair lifts available too. My MiL had one.
