I come to you asking for prayers, good vibes or whatever you believe in.
I was awaken today to somebody "knocking/pounding" on the door.
Dad doesn't always hear when people knock, so after hearing for awhile, I thought I better get up and check.
It was one of our neighbors pounding on the door to get me because dad had gone out and fallen.
Don't get me wrong, I am grateful that she was able to wake me up, but at the same time she basically tried to guilt me because I didn't answer the phone when she tried to call and get me. Sorry but I was in bed sleeping and the phone does not always wake me up. Especially when I am tired.
The ambulance, cop, and fire department rescue truck were all there. He was about one house length from home.
When I got over to where they were all at they were just starting to get him up and onto the stretcher. He looked up and saw me and responded to me right away, so that was a good sign.
My older brother showed up. After they start loading dad up into the ambulance my older brother starts in on me about going up to the ER to be with dad, and my response was, I can't go into the hospital anyway. That was my last understanding about allowing relatives into the building. Well, apparently since patients are allowed to have one visitor come to the hospital to see them, they are allowing one person to come into the ER with patients now too. I found that out after calling the ER. They just had to screen the patient first. So they told me to call back in 1/2 hours. I called back and they said he had just come in and gotten taken back to a room, so if I could call back in another 1/2 hour. So I decided to drive into the hospital and find myself a parking spot in the employee ramp, I am not paying to park when I work there.
I got up to the hospital and called again, and they said that I could come in because he passed their screening. so I walked down to the ER and got screened myself and got taken back to dad's room.
They had him all hooked up and were monitoring his vital signs. He looked good. As I sat next to him I notice that his IV site was no longer in his arm so called to get that taken care of. Shortly after they started another site they took him to get a CT Scan.
That is where the trouble started. They found some "Free Air" in his belly. So they are questioning a possible perferation in his colon, and they also found a polyp/growth in his colon, and with his blood work some of the numbers were going up that could possibly show a heart attack, so it was decided to keep him in the hospital to monitor him for these things. None of the issues are considered emergent, but......
I am just home now after 8+ hours of being at the hospital, after 2+ hours of sleep. I called ny station while we were still in the ER and told them I would not be in to work tonight.
So now we wait to see what happens if anything. Dad feels fine and just wanted to come home.
