disneydream06I just finished reading book No. 19.
I read "Reflection: A Twisted Tale" by Elizabeth Lim.
It is another of the Disney stories that take one of their fairy tales and puts a twist on it.
This one is the story of Mulan. The main story is there of Mulan impersonating a man, Ping, to take the place of her ill father in the Chinese army to battle the Huns. Ping(Mulan) saves the day causing an avalanche to defeat the Huns. Unfortunately, Shan-Yu the leader of the Huns did not die in the avalanche and was about to kill Ping(Mulan). Ping's commander, Li Shang, step in front of him and was mortally wounded by Shan-Yu.
Li Shang lays dying when his father's spirit comes and tells Ping(Mulan) how she can go to the underworld and bring his son back because it was not his time to die.
And thus the story takes off. First Ping(Mulan) must convince the leader of the underworld to let him rescue Li Shang. Then he had to find Li Shang and convince him that he needs to go back to the land of the living. Along the way they have to battle different demons and such things to get out of the underworld before the moon sets.
