I haven't read the article but the only way for that to work would be like they did for Nanny McPhee. The sequel LITERALLY took place about 50 or 60 years after the original.

However, they do have a problem that McPhee didn't where the actress is 50 years later so I don't know if they'll recast or have someone else with the same concept like when Cinderella's fairy godmother had a niece training to be a godmother on Sophia the First.

It sounds like it's going to be the same characters, so I can only assume they will have to recast the entire cast. :o
I just don't know if I can accept that. :o

Seems a bit odd to have a nanny come back and follow the 20 something kids. :o

why you're not happy with this one? You are always happy with remakes.

Nope. :o
Not a fan of remakes, and most sequels, especially classics as big as Mary Poppins.

This sounds like the leaders of the Disney enterprise are desperate.

i read all of the P L Travers books

they could indeed just do a new version
but 20 years later Mary Poppins is now nearing 50 with a bit of a droop and sag?
her "admirer" is a bit bald and paunchy?

in the books Mary is no Julie Andrews
she is "starchy" and opinionated and plain looking.
she bends everyone to her will and not by a sunny smile. lol

That's how I felt when they decided they had to write and then film Scarlett, the sequel to Gone With The Wind. OMg.....

Needless to say I didn't watch it. :o

Especially in this case.
I can't imagine the actress that would dare step into those shoes. :o
