Election Rant.....
Nov. 5th, 2004 03:59 amI warn you ahead of time this is a rant on Bush II government. I was filled with so much anger and disgust after Tuesday's election. I had many thoughts running through my head. Unfortunately, I did not write them down at the time. So two days later they seem very mellow. Please know that for the time being, that anger and disgust still exists. I hope over time that it will become less, but I am not really holding a lot of hope. I apologize if I have offended any of my friends. It was not my intention. However, being a gay man during Bush II reign is a frightening experience. Help us all.
My country is being run by a group of fear mongering, bigots. And it will be for at least four more years.
I am saddened, scared, and disgusted by Tuesday's election results. I cannot believe how far this country has swung to the right. Am I the only one that is afraid of losing more rights and freedoms? And I am not talking about any possible terrorist attack. I am talking about the attack that is coming directly from those that are currently running/ruining this country. This administration had nothing to do until September 11th, 2001. Now they have the clear goal of turning this country back 100 years or so and RULING with an iron fist. They took away how many rights with the so called Patriot Act. Does anyone in their right mind not believe they won't try to take more when it comes up for renewal soon?
They have a clear majority across the board, and will most likely, be taking control of the Supreme Court very soon too. Are we all really willing to give up everything we have achieved so far. You know their agenda is to take away a woman's right to choose what they would like to do with their bodies. And they have openly shown that they want to make gays non-citizens.
Will anyone be surprised if they carry it further? They have already shown they don't like affirmative action. We could easily kiss that good-bye. They have been no friend to nature. Will it still exist in four more years?
I never in my life would have thought that I would be tempted to become an expatriate of the USA, but I truly fear our current government. People joke about it, but if I had the money I would seriously consider moving out of this country. That is such a sad thought.
Bush II has already stated that he has no plans to try to bring this country together to heal. Am I surprised? NO!!!!!
