Medical Update.......

I got a call from the doctor on Friday.
After consulting with the pathologist, he/they are recommending that I come back in and have some more tissue removed from around the area of the cyst with the hope that it will prevent it from regrowing, again.
UGH!!!!!!!
I had said a few times on Friday that the previous doctor had given me the option of coming in and having some more of the area removed or waiting and coming back in a year.
Apparently I was being to subtle with my information and should have gotten out the frying pan to smack them up side their heads.
So now I have to make another appointment, go back in, and of course dish out MORE money. Thank heaven I have insurance. Even so, the first go 'round cost me just over $500. I am guessing that round 2&3 will be more the same. $1000 is not just laying around for most of us including myself.
Safe to say, they won't be getting a lump sum check from me.

Wonder if you have the same kind of cyst i have? Mine was perianal cyst.. and so close to rectum that they couldn't stitch.. after awhile it came back again.. i think a part of his incision opened up again.. I've been dealin' with this for 6 years now and not getting it checked.. anxiety and money issues!

Good luck with yours.. **HUGS**

Why didn't they remove all the tissue that needed to be removed the first time you had it done?

Easier to just pop out the cyst and sew me up I guess. :o

I'm sorry to hear that, Jon!! I'm hoping that you're doing better and everything is taken care of. No one should have to deal with something like this, let alone someone as kind-hearted as you are.

This being said, I'm almost sure that those idiots didn't listen to you because they wanted to make more money off you. Sad, but true. Almost how it always is.

If nothing else, your DVD set should be in soon! Chance to watch it, and speaking of, on the first disc, Dragon Tattoo, you have to enter the English dub via the set up. The other two/three discs you don't. I think. I know the first you do, so you know

Thank you so much. :)

Is there a choice of dubbing or subtitles? I think I would go with the subtitles. :p Assuming I can sit and just pay attention to the movie. I tend to multi task. lol.....

I'd be tempted to think that, unless they said they found "something" more serious this time & that's why they want to remove more of the area, i'd just wait to see if it grows back & deal with it then....after i'd had some time to save up a little more.

Tempting. I really just want the whole thing over with. No letter showed up today in the mail. Thinking about just running into the Clinic and going up to their desk and making appointment.

I think I must have missed something here...?? I know you had a cyst removed and they sent it to pathology, but I was under the impression that it came back clean and the Doc just said to come back in a year to have it looked at. Am I wrong...??

Having had cancer and gone through treatment (I am 7yrs clean this month!!), I would say have the tissue removed!! No point in asking for trouble when you can just have it removed.

I highly doubt they didnt removed more tissue so that they could call you back in again to make more money off of you. Its like breast cancer or any other thing where they take a biopsy first. I had to go through that myself, to find out exactly what I had and how to treat it. Im sure they just didnt want to "mangle" your face unnecessarily and that is why they only took the cyst and not any surrounding tissue.

Good Luck and plz keep us posted. Things like that are nothing to mess around with, trust me on this. Ive been there. Get it done so you can stick around a long long time!!

HUGS!!

Yep, you had the first part of the story down. Then by August the stupid thing had grown back again. I went in on Oct. 22 to have it removed again. These doctors assured me that they got every thing and if it grew back again it would be a different cyst. Then the consultant calls me to say they think I should come in and have more tissue removed to try and prevent it from growing back again.
Me thinks somebody is full of sh!t. I guess that's what you get when you have multiple docs doing different levels of your care. Blah.....
Still waiting for the letter to come that supposedly has the phone number to call. If if doesn't come in the mail today, I think I am going up to their main desk tomorrow to see about making the appointment. argh.......
