Book Reading......
Aug. 10th, 2012 12:15 amThis past morning I finished up No. 21. Just trying to keep up with the Jones(Mr. Owl).
I read Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
It was really good, but sooo different from the old classic Hollywood Frankenstein directed by James Whale.
She doesn't spend any real time on the actual creation of the "monster". And although he is an ugly creature, he is also extremely intelligent.
Victor Frankenstein is quite a self absorbed weak knee. He allows a young woman who has been in their family care to take the blame for his youngest brother's murder instead of coming forward with the fact of his creature. She is then executed. Nice guy Victor was. :o
I would give this one a B+/A-

Date: 2012-08-10 05:32 am (UTC)As far as Frankenstein goes... I have not read the book OR seen the movie. But if they're getting above average ratings here, then maybe I should check them out.

Date: 2012-08-10 05:48 am (UTC)They are just fun books to read, and being a HUGE Disney fan it's right up my alley. :)
The old movie is a classic, but the news Mary Shelley's Frankenstein by Kenneth Braunnagh(sp?) is closer to the book. That one is good too.
