disneydream06I finished up No. 19 this morning.
I just read the new book The Long Earth by Terry Pratchett and Stephen Baxter.
Terry is the auther of the Disc World series and this one has a slight feeling of that, well in that it's fantasy. :p
The ability to "step" has been released on the planet and it allows people to "step" either to the east or west to parallel Earths. The parallel Earths are varying degrees of past histories of Earth.
From what I can understand/feel about the book it is the beginning of a series.
First of all it ended with a nuclear explosion happening on the Real Earth, but for the most it was kind of introduction of characters. The main character is Joshua who is a natural "stepper" and doesn't need the mechanics to "step". He travels as a guide/security to a man who is the spirit of a former Tibetan monk who basically lives withing a computer system, and has been sent out by some big corporation to investigate the new worlds.
Sorry for the lousy review, but I am just not good at it. :p
Grading it I would have to say : B/B+
Here's hoping that it will be a series. :)
