Nov. 18 Day No. 6 at Disney World.....
Nov. 26th, 2011 01:44 amWell, today is my last day at Disney World. Well, not counting leaving tomorrow morning. :p
Today is going to be spent at Epcot. It opens at 9 am and will be open until 12 midnight.
I arrived shortly after the park opened and I went straight to Spaceship Earth. As is my custom. :) Then I went over to the Universe of Energy ride. It's informative and fun. It's narrated by Ellen DeGeneres. Then I went over to the Land Pavilion which is the home to Soarin' which is a great ride. It gives you the effect of handgliding over California. I also road the boat ride Living With The Land, and saw the film Circle of Life.
After riding the Living With the Land ride I decided to take the Behind the Seeds tour, that takes a tour of greenhouses. It's really cool because they do noncustomary type gardening. They do a lot of growing without soil. So cool. They also do a lot of vertical planting for space reasons, to show that it can be done. They train tomato plants to become tomato trees, and they even have the Guiness Book of World Records record for having the most prolific tomato plant/tree.
I went over and grabbed a FastPass ticket for the Test Track ride.
Eventually, I made my way into the World Showcase. That part of the Park doesn't open until 11 am.
I went through the Mexico Pavilion and rode the ride in there. It's kind of take on the old Disney movie The Three Cabelleros, which is about Donald Duck visiting Central and South America.
Then I went to the Norway Pavilion I stopped in the little bakery/restaurant and ordered my piece of Lefsa and I got a Cloudberry Horn which is like a Creme Horn if you are familiar with them only it's got a different flavor in the creme. Yummy. I rode the Maelstrom ride at the Norway Pavilion. It's boat ride that takes you through a brief history of Norway.
Then I went back to ride Test Track. I rode it with a really friendly mom and young daughter. The little girl gave me a blow by blow of what was coming next on the ride and how many times she had rode it. lol...
Then I went back to the Universe of Energy ride again. Just because I enjoy it so much.
Then I went back to World Showcase. I wondered around a bit. I went back to the Norway Pavilion and the little restaurant/bakery and ordered a ham and apple sandwich, toasted. I have gotten one of these before and they are yummy. It was getting close to dusk, so I took my sandwich and went and got myself a place along the fence around the lake to watch the IllumiNations show. I stood next to a really nice couple from Australia. They were currently living in Canada and just kind of traveling and seeing the World.
After IllumiNations got over the regular Park hours were over, but the extra evening hours began for people staying at the Park hotels. So I started to wonder around a bit. I decided to go back and ride the Maelstrom ride again. Partly because at the end of the ride you go through the Norway gift shop, and I wanted to pick up some Laila Perfume for mom for Christmas. I got in line for the ride and I noticed the guy ahead of me was wearing a Twins cap. So I asked him if he was from Minnesota. Finally on my last full day in Florida I met somebody from Minnesota. He was there with his little daughter. They were from Brooklyn Park, Mn. Rode the ride and bought the perfume. They have a men's aftershave from Norway. Smells pretty good. I almost picked one up for myself.
I started to wonder around the World Showcase some more. Unfortunately a lot of it was closed up during the extra hours. :( I was going past the Germany Pavilion and I saw Snow White was there and I thought I would get into line and get a picture with her. Only to be told the line was closed. Gee, Thanks. So I wondered through the gift shops of the Germany Pavilion and drooled over Steiff Teddy Bears.
I wondered around some more. A little later I came by Germany again and I saw that Snow White was still out and there was a longer line for photos. So I sarcastically went over to the lady and asked if the line was still closed. She said yes, so I couldn't help but ask, How could you have a longer line if it was closed. I was getting a bit pissed after the nice guy at Animal Kingdom let us into the Donald Duck line after it was closed. Apparently some Cast Members aren't aware of the "Happiest Place on Earth" motto. :o
I wondered back the other way and unfortunately, the Canada Pavilion was all closed up. So I walked through the Great Britian gift shops. The one restaurant was still opened so I got myself an order of Fish and Chips. :) Yummy, but filling. lol.......
It was getting close to closing time and it was actually getting fairly quiet in the Park. At least over in the World Showcase area. I stopped back into the Germany Pavilion to get a carmeled apple to go. I got an Apple Pie Carmeled Apple to take back to the hotel and snack on. It was really pretty good. :)
From there I slowly made my way to the front of the Park. I tried to go as slow as I could. It's really sad knowing it's the end of your stay and you are saying goodbye to Disney World.
The wait for a bus back to the hotel was surprisingly not too long.
It was about 1 am by the time I got back to my hotel, and my bus back to the airport was scheduled to leave at 5:45 am. I decided it wasn't worth trying to lay down and sleep. So instead, I decided to do laundry instead. LOL... $10 later my cloths were clean. Socks were a little damp yet, but I didn't want to take more time or spend more money on it. I spent the rest of the night trying to get everything packed away.
Okay, I will save the final hours of my trip for tomorrow. :p
Pictures are slowly getting transfered over to my photobucket account. I started with approximately 770 pictures and videos. Working from back to front, I am currently on picture No. 439.
I will hopefully be posting some time before Christmas. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 2011-11-26 08:58 am (UTC)Yes, I know lefse is cold. The few times I've been in its company, sugar & cinnamin were nowhere to be seen.
No, not a Norske. I'm from South of that border.
