Nov. 13 First Day At Disney World.....
Nov. 21st, 2011 09:00 amI left Fort Myers approximately 6:30 am. I was going to be taking the back roads State Highway 17 instead of the Interstates because of road construction. So I wanted to get an early start to make sure I made it on time to get the rental back by noon. Not knowing the highway I wanted a little cushion.
On the drive up I passed a few orange orchards and an orange "factory", or what ever you call them.
Well, I had plenty of cushion I got back to the airport about 9:30 am. Car wasn't due back until 12 noon. lol...
I need to find that receipt to see what they charged me for a tank of gas which I paid for so I didn't need to stop on the way and get a full tank to turn the car in with.
From there I went on a hunt to find the Disney desk to check in for the bus ride to the Park. I looked and looked and it ended up I was on the wrong side of the airport. Got over the the correct side and there was a lovely line already. Kind of looks like Disney isn't going to be quiet. I waited and waited and finally got my ride out to the Pop Century Hotel.
The check in desk at Pop Century was BUSY. Stood in line again. I was getting pretty good at that. :p But I was still ahead of schedule so can't complain to hard.
Now it was time for one of those pesty annoyances to poke it's head into my trip again.
I finally got up to the desk and started the check in process and then waited and waited. Finally they came to the conclusion that the computer system had gone down and nobody was getting room assignments. BLAH... So I got a temporary Park ticket for the day and went to check my bags into the storage area and then headed out to Hollywood Studios.
Hollywood Studios was scheduled to have extra hours tonight and I was determined to see the show Fantasmic. It's the big show at HS and I had to miss it my last trip because the only night it was playing was the night I was scheduled for the Halloween Party.
Of course my first stop had to be The Tower of Terror. :) LOVE that ride. Then I stopped over to the Rock n Roller Coaster. Another little blip there. The ride got over and I couldn't get the shoulder harness to release. The guy was like, Push down on it. I was like, I am. I was thinking great. I am going to be stuck on this ride. :o Finally it released and I was done with the ride for my stay, as fun as it is. :o
I wondered around some. I stopped to see the Muppet 3D Show. Gotta love the Muppets. :)
Eventually I decided to see about getting in line for Fantasmic. I got there and people were walking in, so I thought the line must be forming up by the ampitheater area. Nope they were already seating people. It was about 5:15 pm and the show didn't start until 6:30 pm. :p So I got a really good seat and say and waited and waited. Patience is a virtue. :)
Fantasmic was just as amazing as I remembered it to be. It's the story of the Disney villains trying to take over Mickey's dreams. A good portion of the show consists of sheets of water being blown up into the air and images being shown on them. This year I recorded it on my little camera. Hopefully it turned out half way decent.
From Fantasmic I headed to the Streets of America to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. It was AMAZING. If you ever need to get in the Christmas spirit, head to Disney World and see this show. WOW... It consists of two "streets" in Hollywood Studios that are covered with 5 million Christmas lights. Literally covering everything in sight. and then every few minutes the lights are programed to dance to the songs played. WOW... There is also "snow" falling along the streets. Okay it's really soap suds, but it looks like snow falling. :p
I watched the light show for awhile and then wondered around to see a few other things and eventually came back to finish the night watching the lights.
I finally got back to my hotel about 1 am ish. I went to the check in desk to see if they found me a room yet. YAY they did. I was in the 1950's section of the hotel. Thankfully on the ground floor and I didn't have to mess with stairs or the elevator. :p
I ate some munchies watched a wee bit of tv and then crashed for the night. :p
