Another one under the belt...

I finished reading book #15 this morning. I read Dracula The Un-Dead by Dacre Stoker and Ian Holt.
It is a sequel to the original Dracula.
Dacre Stoker is the great grandnephew of Bram Stoker the author of the original Dracula.

It was a good book. I wouldn't say great though. There were some things in it that just kind of didn't work for me. The main thing being they introduced Bram Stoker into the story. It just wasn't necessary in my opinion. At the end of the book the authors talked about why the wrote the book and how they worked to combine things from the original story into theirs and why. I almost think it would help if that was at the beginning of the book, other than it could give away things.
I am not going to say a lot about the story just in case others decide to read it. The main story is good, just a few frivilous things it could do with out.

They also left the ending open for another book. It could be good. :)

Yeah, I felt the novel was a bit...dull and relied far too much on Stoker (as a character). If you're looking for something with a bit of a bite I offer you "The Vampire Armand" by Anne Rice. There's some blood, sex, and vampires!

It was really pretty good, although it was a little tough to understand the Van Helsing character. :p
