Sep. 22nd, 2011 09:20 pmWell, Tuesday was a really good day and Thursday kind of sucked...
It started last night/early morning at work.
I was looking up my flight information so I could tell the airport shuttle people when I would be returning.
I pulled up the info on Orbitz and there was no infor for my flight from Chicago to Orlando and the time change between flights was listed as 263 hrs and 18 min. EXCUSE ME???
So I emailed Orbitz to see what was going on.
I got the response that things change but I should call them to better explain things.
So when I got home I called them up(man, I hope that was a toll free number).
Come to find out, Continental apparently canceled the flight from Chicago to Orlando. WTF?????
So when exactly did somebody plan to tell me this??? Did they think I was going to be happy to fly to Chicago and then sit there for two weeks?
So she tells me there is another flight through Chicago but it wouldn't get me into Orlando until something like 4:30pm. I don't think so.
Then she comes up with another flight that would take me through Newark that will get me into Orlando at 2:10pm.
What did I want to do?
I asked if I was going to be charged for the new flight. No, it would be the same cost because of the airline change. Okay, I guess I will take the Newark flight.
Now you know, if you take this and I book it and then you find another flight you prefer you will have to pay the difference.
Umm, I was happy with my first choice. I wasn't the one making changes. That would be Continental. So yes, I want the earlier flight.
So now I am flying out earlier 5:40 am appr 20 min, and I am getting there later 2:10pm appr an hour.
Secondly I opened my email tonight and had an email from my staffer at work.
Apparently I am only allowed to take 2 weekends off with vacation time and I already had one in March. So I would have to give up one of my weekend requests that I put in for my vacation coming up in November. UGH... Thank god one of them was not involving my actual time away. I took the final weekend of October so I could go to a Halloween party. So now I will have to skip it or go for a couple of hours and go to work. Yippy.....
You would think after 30 years of labor for them they could cut me a break.

Date: 2011-09-23 09:55 am (UTC)However, once one person is cut slack, typically the rest of the workforce wants a piece of the pie as well.
The regulations are set up to "TRY" to be "FAIR".
On the brigtside, I'm only allowed to take 1 weekend off per year.
And on the topic of "Try" and "fairness", Specially in healthcare/nursing department including but not limited to nursing assistance and axiliary personell, the SINGLE MALE person is discriminated against due to policies.
BUT Enjoy your vacation. Any break from this place, is worth it.
