ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had a long written entry and internet screwed up and I lost it. :o
So I shall try again and remember most of the things I wrote.
The first day of my mini vacation consisted of driving up to Prior Lake, Mn to the indian casino, Mystic Lake to see Stevie Nicks in concert.
I had left early because I had never been there before and wanted to make sure I got there in time. I did with an hour and a half to spare. lol...
It was being held at an outdoor ampitheater and it was a BEAUTIFUL night for a concert.
My seat was pretty good. I would guess about 50 yards from the stage. I am not able to sympathize with people that sit behind me at shows and have trouble seeing over/around me. I had a great view until a guy sat in front of me. The seating area was not graded the best. I would guess it had about a 10% grading. *Note to Mystic Lake, spend some money and grade your seating area.
The opening act was Micheal Grimm.
He apparently was on America's Got Talent. Not that I would know, I don't watch the show.
He was actually really good. Well worth the listen. You should check him out.
Stevie Nicks came out at about 8:30 pm.
She both looked and sounded beautiful.
After the first song, she chatted for a bit and joked about performing at Mystic Lake and how it was the perfect place for her. lol...
It was really nice that she did chat in between most songs. To hear how songs were originated.
One of the most touching was the story behind the song Soldier's Angel.
Several years ago she had been visiting wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Medical Center. On her way out they would setting up for a medivac of several wounded soldiers and so once her car was found she was rushed out of the way. When she got back to her hotel she wrote a poem about the feelings she was experiencing. She has distributed the poem to many soldiers and their families, and after a few years put it to music, and hence the song Soldier's Angel.
She had announced at the beginning of the concert that it wasn't going to be the usual Greatest Hits type of concert. She was promoting her new album that she had worked on for several years and wanted to share the music with her fans. It ended up being a really nice balance of new music and some of her greatest hits from her solo career and from Fleetwood Mac.
The show finally wrapped up about 10:20 pm. So not too bad in the time department. Better than the 45 minute Go Gos show that I saw due to rain delay. :)
I waited around for a good 45 minutes afterward to let the crowd thin out. I hate sitting in car lines going a couple of feet every 20 minutes.
Took the "scenic" route home and finally got there about 1 am. lol... I don't think it was really longer driving, but it just seemed that way. :p
