Jan. 20th, 2011 09:09 pmMonday night I auditioned for our community theater production of Woody Allen's Don't Drink the Water.
It's the story of a family who is on vacation in Europe when their plane is hijakced and forced to land behind the iron curtain. They get off and take some pictures and are soon chased by the police/military who think they are spies. They flee to the American embassy which is surrounded by the police/military. Then it's their comical attempts to flee the country with the help of the bumbling Ambassador's son.
I auditioned for the Father of the family, the head guy of the military, the priest who has been held up in the embassy for 6 years, and the chef of the embassy.
I kind of was interested in a smaller role to just take it easy.
Then I watched the movie and at least in the movie most of the smaller parts were just that, Small.
So I opened myself up to trying for the Father/dad role. It's probably one of the two biggest roles. :o
After auditions I kind of started to get a feeling that I might be offered the role of the priest, which sounds like it would be quite funny.
Then last night I got an email offering me the part of the Father of the family. Yikes, Lots of memorizing. Why do I do this to myself? :o
