Did you know that nearly 40 percent of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's 2008 income came from only 26 businesses of the 3 million it claims to represent?

This is part of what it means for us to have a "progressive" system of taxes/donation/whatever. By expecting the richer entities to pay more, we set up a situation where they want and have more say and influence.

Part of California's problems right now is that almost 80% of their tax money comes from 10% of the population. And that 10% was hit hard in the recession-- so oops! no tax money. So then who steps up to the plate?

I never feel too sorry for the wealthy when it comes to taxes. They are the ones that can afford to find all the loopholes. :p

I don't feel sorry for them at all. Not a drop sir.

My point is that there's a slight paradox in equal representation when all the money is coming from one side.
