September 26th.......
Oct. 12th, 2009 08:52 pmUp and showered. Then I had to decide what I was going to do today. Today was kind of my do anything day.
I decided to go to Downtown Disney first.
I did a lot of window shopping, which is what you have to do when you know you don't have a lot of luggage space, and don't realize that they will ship anything home for you. lol... There is a really big Christmas store there that has a lot of beautiful things. I could go crazy in that store. So could my mom. lol... There is also a Disney Art store there. Beautiful, beautiful things. Unfortunately, really nice price tags that go with it. :p
I went through the Pooh Corners store too. Gotta love the Pooh.
There is also a big trading pin store there. I did go a little crazy there. They are small and don't take up a lot of room. But not cheap either.
They also have what is billed as the world's largest Disney Store. You can pretty much get anything Disney there.
They have some non Disney types of stores. I went through a sunglasses store. To show you how expensive they are, they have a stand that has sunglasses that are UNDER $100. Yikes.....
There use to be a Virgin Records store, but they must have left.
Then I road on the new attraction they have there. The Characters of Flight balloon ride. It's the world's largest tethered gas balloon, and rises to 400 feet about the ground. It can hold 29 guests and a pilot. At the highest point you can see a 10 mile radius. You can see Epcot's Spaceship Earth, Disney's Hollywood Studios Tower of Terror, The Contemporary Hotel. Surprisinly, my fear of heights didn't bother me while I was up there.
Then I went back over to Disney's Animal Kingdom. I rode the Kilimanjaro Safaris ride again. Then I decided to take the plunge, so to speak, and rode the Kali River Rapids ride. I was one of the lucky ones to get soaked. lol....... After that I decided to go ride Expedition Everest. So I walked over there only to find out that it was shut down for problems. So I decided to head out and go back over to Epcot. As I was walking out of the park I saw that It's Tough to Be a Bug was shut down too. Not a good day at Animal Kingdom.
I hoped the bus over to Epcot and was going to ride Test Track, but when I entered the park they were handing out flyers for the Food and Wine tasting event, so I decided to check that out too.
First I rode the Universe of Energy ride. Ellen DeGeneras is so funny. Then I went over to the World Showcase to check out the food and wine tasting event. Just a wee bit busy. :p I got brave and tried a few things. A grilled pork skewer with farofa from Rio, grilled chicken with cumin and taditional Northwestern chicken spices from Shanghai, Paprika beef stew and bacon dumpling from Vienna, Sukiyaki beef roll from Tokyo. I would have tried more, but it wasn't a cheap tasting. Everything was around $4 for the little samples. OUCH...
I stopped into the Japan Pavilion and bought a couple of oysters. They sell the oysters and open then up for you and you get the pearl inside. One was 7mm and the other was 7 1/4 mm. One of gold tinted and the other white. :)
Some walking around and then I sat and watched most of a Big Bad Voodoo Daddies concert. They were really good.
After that I decided to go back and catch the Test Track ride. It was sprinkling a little on my way over. The same thing happened on my last time at Disney. They delayed the ride until the rain stopped. I thought, here we go again. :p Well, this time it didn't happen. After standing in line for awhile, it was reported that it was really raining outside. Eventually they shut down the ride and escorted us out. We got down to the entrance and it was raining so hard it was forming puddles all over. No umbrella and no slicker, so I decided to just head out. I was going to try and go back to Downtown Disney and do some shopping. I thought I would take the monorail to the nearest hotel to catch a bus. By the time I got to the monorail, I was literally soaked. Then the monorail takes us to the transit stop and we had to go back out in the rain to catch another monorail. Finally got to the Polynesian Hotel. By then it had pretty much stopped raining. I caught a bus that took forever to get to Downtown Disney. I bought some things at the Christmas store. I should have waited and come back in the morning. The staff working that night weren't the best. :p After stopping in another store, I went to leave and it started to rain again.
This night could not get over soon enough. :p
