September 25th.......
Oct. 11th, 2009 03:36 amUp and showered this morning.
Today is Disney's Animal Kingdom day. Partly because it normally closes the earliest of the parks and I have a ticket to go to the Halloween party. Of course they have to throw in Extra Night hours at Animal Kingdom today. :p Normally Animal Kingdom would close at 5 pm. Today it's closing at 8 pm. The Halloween party is at Magic Kingdom and starts at 7 pm. So decisions have to be made. lol...
Off to Animal Kingdom. First I stopped and rode the Dinosaur ride. Gotta love scary dinosaurs coming out of the dark at you. :) Then I headed down to Expedition Everest. I rode it twice while the lines were still relatively short. Next I took the Maharajah Jungle Trek. It's a walking trail that let's you see various animals. Next I boarded the Kilimanjaro Safaris. I lucked out and got an outside seat on the bus. After the safaris, I walked the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail. One of the best parts of the trail is a section with different birds that are right out in the open. They are not tame or anything like that but they are not in cages either. Nexted I stopped in to watch It's Tough To Be A Bug. It's a 3D movie/show based on the Bug's Life characters. There is also smell-o-vision and things poke you from under the bench seats. It's very funny, until the little kids start getting scared by things poking at them. :p Next I got in a long line to ride the Wildlife Express Train over to Rafiki's Planet Watch, which is a conservation area. They have some of their vetranarian work there. Also a small betting area. A quick train ride back and I wondered around a bit and then stopped to watch the parade. A lot of the parade units remind me of the stage show The Lion King if you have seen it.
I stayed at Animal Kingdom until around 6 pm or so, then I headed back to the hotel to rest a bit and get changed for the Halloween party over at the Magic Kingdom. My cosutme was a red and white striped nightshirt and stocking cap with teddy bear slippers and a teddy bear dressed in his own nightshirt and cap.
If I do have to say so myself, my costume was a big success. I got lots of good comments. A lot of people commented that I came prepared for the night/bed. lol... I was walking through the main intersection in front of Cinderella's Castle and this young couple came walking up and the guy asked if he could take a picture of me. :) I also saw a few other people takikng pictures.
As you entered the park they put braclets on you to show you were there for the Halloween party and they also gave you bags for trick or treating. They are had several areas set up where you could walk through and they were handing out candy. :)
I first headed over to the Haunted Mansion. What better place to start a Halloween Party? I got a picture taken next to the hearse which I later found out they super imposed a ghost sitting in the driver's seat. lol... Then I went through the Mansion. They had an actress sitting in the lawn talking to people as they went through the line and she was fantastic. Ad libing with the guests.
I found a place to stand and watch the parade. A lady and her little boy stood next to me and then another lady came and stood next to us. She was a Disney worker on her night off.
After the parade I went over and rode Big Thunder Moutain Railroad and the Pirates of the Caribbean a couple of times. Then I heard a firework go off so I QUICKLY made my way over to an area where I could see and record them. I walked around some more and got my picture taken with Winnie the Pooh and Eeyore. :) Then I rode It's a Small World. You have to, right? After that I watched the Villain's Stage show. I wondered around some more and eventually went back and went through the Haunted Mansion again. Begin the night and end it there.
The music that was getting played in the park that night was a lot of fun. It was different versions of their movies villain's songs. So on my way out of the Park I stopped into a store to see if they had the music available on cd. Sure enough it was, so I had to pick up a copy. :) I haven't listened to it yet, so I am hoping it's as good.
On the way out I saw this group of people that I had seen earlier. They were dressed up as the Harry Potter gang. I had to stop and get thier picture.
Then it was down to the bus stop and wait in line for a bus. Finally got back to the room and briefly watched some TV to unwind and went to be.
