The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 that lethal injection was the most ethical way to kill a prisoner.
Maybe a better question would have been, Is it ethical to kill a prisoner any way?

I have mixed feelings about the death penalty. I am not a big fan of it, but I think there are some people that deserve it.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of people that claim to be Anti Abortionists, but are also Pro Death Penalty?
Can you really have it both ways?

Just a little food for thought for your day.................

Well I agree lethal injection is more humane than electrocution or indeed hanging.
However I concur that I do not believe the death penalty to be humane at all. Some people may not deserve to live, but who has the right to take a human life?

I find anti-abortionist and pro-death penalty to be contradictory, but that is a little hypocritical of me as I am more in favour of euthanasia that abortion. I wont say that I am anti-abortion as I believe it should be legal, but I feel it should always be the last resort.

Ultimately I uphold the individuals right to decide if they wish to live or not but abhor the idea of someone else making that decision for them.

I am very much in favor of euthanasia. God forbid I am ever diagnosised with certain diseases, I want to be able to end things at my time not a machines.

I'm kind of torn about that, really. I believe that you shouldn't allow killers to waste time and tax payers cash on Death Row, but I also don't see it right as killing them. My philosophy is kind of simple - send them to the frontlines, offer freedom, and whoever happens to survive (low rate) are given such. It knocks down soldier deaths, tax costs, and the cost of actually doing them in.

My views are somewhat similar to your own. Definitely on the make them do something useful , preferably dangerous and doesn't involve much contact with non-criminals track.

But, most importantly, OMG your icon is made of awesome! :)

I know! I don't see why we have to pay for them to sit and wait to be killed. Some of them are living better than we are! If I wasn't so divide on the topic I would vote for the ancient ways: eye for an eye.

Oh, my, God! I know! A friend of mine found it and told me to use it. I was like "ZOMG! Nny Depp LOVE!"

I'm definitely not of the opinion that cold blooded killers can be rehabilitated. Nor am I of the opinion that criminals should live in the lap of luxury, when there are honest people starving in the streets.
Have times REALLY moved on since people used to deliberately commit crimes to get a clean bed and free meal?

Anyways, back to the important stuff. That icon rocks too, I can't believe they are bringing X-Files back, I so hope it's like the early stuff and not the utter tripe they turned it into.

Yeah, we have reached that level. I know that's kind of sick and depressing, but we have. I was kind of shocked back when I was in high school and I wrote a few Death Row Inmates. Kind of strange idea I had...I actually have a letter from Charles Manson. He's not a evil guy, but can be kind of spooky...

Yes. I have been an X-Phile since the first episode back in 1993. I was telling Jon that when I read an article a couple of days back it made me feel old when they mentioned bringing "Mulder and Scully to a new generation." God, I'm only 22!

I also added you, you seem kind of cool!

Actually, it's Shtriga Vampyre. Kind of a long and twisty tale short a Shtriga and is a witch-vampire that drains the life outta children mostly and can only harmed when feeding, and Vampyre is an alternative spelling of vampire, but also used to connotate real life vampyres.

Yeah I figured something like that, I was surprised as I had only heard of Striga last year, they don't seem to have hit popular western mythos yet.
This obviously makes you even more awesome. :)

Of course my initial knowledge of them came from "The Last Wish" by Polish author Andrezej Sapkowski, which frankly was the best novel I read last year.

I've known about them for quite awhile now, but I think when it really hit pop culture was when it was on Supernatural a few years back...even though that episode didn't fair too well.

Ah, now that is where I've gone wrong, in between Stargate, Lost and Heroes I didn't manage to see Supernatural. I'm quite impressed they used that really.

Yeah, there are definitely some prisons that are much to nice for what they are suppose to be. I don't think they need to go as far as that tent city prison that sheriff has in Arizona, but some are rediculously nice. If you get sent to prison, life should be a little uncomfortable. :)

Damn! I don't have my Rodney icon any more! Must remedy ASAP.

I just don't get how there can be people out campaigning for better quality for prisoners when I know good, honest citizens who cannot afford three square meals a day. The poor should be prioritized before criminals in the hopes that it will reduce the amount of people driven to crime!

Well now, that is an interesting concept. :)
I am not to sure I want some of the getting free even for that, but some people in prison might benefit from that. :)

I agree with the death penalty.. because I'm so anti-civilization for those who are not civilized to begin with. I think that, say, a serial killer chose to give up the rights the day they decided to murder.

Anyway - as for pro-life and pro-death penalty.. I don't believe you can have both. But I can understand their views on the situation, I suppose. I am extremely pro-choice, but I can understand where they are coming from if they'd say.. The baby hasn't been given a chance at life, and the inmates on death row have chosen to taint and make a mockery out of theirs. You know?

I can support the death penalty too. That is where I have my troubles with those political quizes because a "good" democrat doesn't support it. lol.........

From: [identity profile] detour21.livejournal.com
Haha, no! A "good" democrat wants what is RIGHT. Well.. in my eyes anyway haha. Is it wrong to take a person's life away who's taken away so many lives already and shows no hope for changes? No way!! They'll end up killing the world.

Ethical way? Do those criminals deserve an ethical approach? To be totally honest, I'm pro death penalty and pro choice in almost all cases. Am I radical? Sort of
