On Sunday I drove to Minneapolis to see two theater shows. The weather was the most cooperative. Mostly the drive home. I think that was because of the darkness. But yes the roads were pretty crappy too. On the way up a car spun out in front of me a few cars. Luckily everyone slowed down and nothing happened.
The shows I saw were The Graduate and Mamma Mia.
The Graduate starred Linda Gray. She played Sue Ellen on Dallas. And we got to see her naked. Totally nudie patudie. lol... It was pretty good. The show that is, a naked Linda Gray didn't anything for me. Now if the guy playing the love interest (what was his name) would have been naked.....
Mamma Mia was disappointing for me. I love that show, but I think it was terribly cast this time around. Most of the leads were not the greatest singers. The ladies playing Donna and her daughter Sophie could really belt out a song BUT the minute they needed to sing higher you could tell they had to completely change how they were singing and their voices got real soft because they couldn't really sing that well in the higher ranges. Boy, don't I sound like some kind of expert. lol... The actor playing Sam acted just like he was spastic. I wanted to scream at him to stand still.
I need to stop seeing shows that I have seen before, because I am always disappointed by the new casts. Maybe I should stick with the memories and the cast albums. For Mamma Mia the original cast album is from the London production, and the first touring troupe I think was mostly from Canada so it had the accents to match up pretty good. This current troupe is "all" American. And the show was tweaked a bit. Just enough to notice if you are a fan. But I still love the show. A redeeming factor was some really hot guys to sit and stare at. One in particular was drool material. WOW!!!!!
In between the shows I went to see the Christmas display at the Daytons' store. I know it is called Marshall Fields now, but I will always call it Daytons. This year they did Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Not quite the same as the movie, but it was still really cute.
So I saw a couple of good shows and drove through the first snow storm of the season. All in all a great day. lol.....
