Opening Night.........
Mar. 3rd, 2007 05:00 amWell, what can I say about opening night of Wild Oats?
Let's start off with saying, we were still in a Winter Storm Warning, I believe. We had canceled last night's rehearsal because it just wasn't safe to be out on the roads if you didn't have to be. All in all, I don't think that hurt us to lose that final rehearsal.
I was pleasantly surprised that people actually got out and came to the show. A lot of us were joking before the show that we hoped there would be more in the audience than there was in the show. In his pep talk, the director told us that if it was a small audience he was going to give them a curtain speech to kind of warm them up. Then he came back and said there were about 50 people in the audience and he didn't need to give his speech. I don't know if it was actually 50 people or not, but there were a great little audience. Once they warmed up. LoL.....
For the most part, I think everyone did pretty good with their lines and what not. "Amelia Morales" was a little rough, but truthfully, I was not surprised. I don't know if she had that much trouble memorizing, or if she just didn't try that hard. But she struggled through.
I had a wee bit of a hiccup. I am suppose to shoot a bow and arrow at one point. I should point out that it is a little "toy" bow and arrow. Suction cups and all. :p Well, I rushed myself and didn't take my time. I didn't get the arrow on the string, but I tried to shoot it anyway. The arrow just kind of dropped. I grabbed it as it fell, kind of gave a shrug, and threw it off stage in the direction it was suppose to go. I don't know if the audience thought it was suppose to happen that way or not, but they got a big laugh out of it.
After the show everyone was talking about heading out to this restuarant and party. Thank you so much, I headed in to work. Ugh... After Saturday's show there is suppose to be a pot luck at someone's house. That is really nice, but I think she lives in another town in the area, and the snow is suppose to continue blowing. Do we really want to be out driving in the dark in those conditions? I might just stay home and get some much needed sleep. I will play it by ear.
So one show down and two more to go, and no major problems. Well, at least for me (stupid arrow).
Off for the weekend now, but I will let you know how things turn out when I come back to work.
