This is just too good not to share.......

In other crazy fundamentalist news, after the Washington state supreme court blocked queer nuptials, equating marriage with procreation, our guys introduced legislation that would require all straight wedded couples to have a child within three years of sealing the deal -- or see their marriage annulled. Take that, faulty logic police!

My thoughts...
Instead of banning GLTB's from getting married to "save" marriage, I think they need to be outlawing divorce. Seems to me that is a much bigger threat to marriage in this country.

Actualy I'm opposed of gay marriage, but that is another topic for another time. The whole thing with having to have a child if your going to get married, is somewhat fucked up in all directions. For starters it is binding the religious conotation of marriage with the legal conotation of marriage, even harder which is against the whole notion of sepearation of church and state. Secondly, there is NO NEED to promote procreation. There is enough people poping out more kids, than there is a need for (think homeless and kids up for adoption, and throw in the abortion issue), and secondly, saying you have to have kids, is creating more of a dictatorship than anything else.

Washington state can pass it. They can go right ahead. Colorado did that with I think it was proposition 19 (but don't quote me on that) with the gay marriage act in the 1990's. It doesn't mean at all that it will become a federal law... cause that shit just won't fly.

not to argue with you, jon: one can't outlaw divorce. Outlawing divorce is saying that once you start working for mayo, you can't ever quit. PERIOD. Or if you decide to be a priest, you can never quit. QUIT or ending something is ALWAYS an option. If you outlaw divorce, you outlaw the freedom of CHOICE, and that is a bigger issue than gay marriage.
