For the past week or so I have been having low heart rates.
It's been in the 40s to 50s. The lowest has been 43.
Normal is 60s.
So I finally decided to break down and see my doc.
I call this morning to make an appointment.
Of course they make you talk to a triage nurse about whatever you are calling about and she basically said I should go to the ER because they can do emergency tests.
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So reluctantly I agreed to go there.
Our ER rates it's busyness on the traffic light colors and she said at least it's currently Green.
YIPPY...
So off I went to the ER.
I checked in just after 9 am. Nobody was even in the waiting room. Shocking.
I don't know if they were really board or if it was because it was a cardiac issue, but three nurses came into the room to hook me up to the moniter and settle me in, and then disappeard. lol...
Blood work was done. Xrays were done. Chatted with a resident.
Sat around a lot. The out of no where this guy comes in to hook me up to a portable moniter, news to me, and hooked me up.
I wear that for 24 hours and then they will call me to tell me I am done with it or that I need to wear it longer.
PLEASE let it be done after 24 hours.
Then more blood work.
Then consultant came in to talk over things. Said tests were all coming back okay, and my heart rate was in the 80s, but my blood pressure was high.
I felt like saying, change places with me and tell me how your blood pressure is?
He checked on the final blood work and then was going to send the nurse in to get me on my way.
4 hours later I was on my way.

Shall we take bets on what this bill is going to be?

$45,500 with separate charges for the cardiology MD consult and for the radiologist to read your x-ray.

Incidentally, if they say you need to be monitored longer, cowboy up and do it. You’re too nice of a person to brady out behind the wheel and kill somebody.

No joke, babe.

You were NOT evaluated by Cardiology? Not even a first year resident? Nice ED Mecca has going there and I do mean that sarcastically.

They really were low heart rates, possibly bradycardia low so you were right to go and get it checked out.

I can't imagine what the bill will be but it'll be eye watering, I'm sure.

Hugs, Holly

Yeah, you'd think they'd know about white coat hypertension? Probably even higher in an ER!

That is good you went in, you just can't mess around with BP. I noticed that with G's episode. They take BP issues pretty seriously. I hope the monitor isn't too much of a pain. Sorry I got behind and didn't realize this!

Hugs, Helen

Im really glad you went. It may seem a drag, but it's better than the alternative. Think of my Dad and then the stroke cousin and her brother that just dropped.
