At the recent BAFTA Awards pressentation a guest with Tourette's Syndrome was in the audience and at the beginning of the show they announced to the audience his presense and what they might experience because of his disease.
Unfortunately during the show when two Black actors were presenting an award this man shouted out the N word.
And now everybody are having a hissy fit about it.
The BAFTA people are bending over backward to apologize to the two Black actors.
IMHO the only thing they should be apologizing for is that they didn't edit their delayed broadcast and it went out to the public viewing.
He also was apparently F Bombing, but I guess that's okay.
THE MAN HAS A DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!
I guess after this incident we will have to shut away people with Tourette's because heaven forbid somebody's feeling get hurt.
If I was in a room with somebody that had Tourette's Syndrome and they shouted out FAGGOT, I sure as hell would not be condemning them. :o :o :o

And now I step down from my SoapBox...

I agree wholeheartedly with you. It saddens me that social media clamour to make it the most sensational sin as possible and seem unable to objectively look at it and see the man has a disease and the audience were warned beforehand about it. There's no doubting it was a terrible mistake to not edit it out (I watched it live and heard the shouts but could't tell what was said). Of course editing it out would have made no difference to the auditorium guests who would still have heard it and many would still have been hurt and offended, quite understandably. But since when did humanity and empathy for the people become so diluted, and over the top outrage at every single thing take hold instead of standing back and really thinking about what happened?

Hugs, Holly

That does seem the most likely outcome but then again how many people with Tourettes normally attend? He was probably the first and only one because the film was about him.

You may or may not have seen posts where I've described myself as being a recovering racist. I used that word when I was a child back in the '60s, and told jokes using that word. And I deeply regret it. I quickly stopped using it when I grew older. A lot of my family came from very rural Texas, and I heard it a lot.

It's pretty appalling how much it still saturates our culture. I'm not going to read the article, but what I'm curious about is what Michael B. Jordan's opinion of the incident was. I'm sure Davidson was mortified, but like you said, he has a disease and doesn't have very good control of his brain and mouth. He shouldn't be pilloried.
