Follow Up.....

So yesterday I asked what that STOP sign meant.
Apparently it doesn't mean STOP like you would think.
I'm guessing it actually means slow down a little bit.

That was brought on by my observation over night at work on Saturday.
I was babysitting a little old confused lady.
I sat near the window and I had a partial view of the street that runs along the West side of the hospital.
There is a three way stop intersection that connects with a "road" that runs through the hospital area, the ER, parking ramps, etc.
As I sat there I was frequently watching the traffic coming from the South on the city street.
I think I could count on one hand the number of vehicles that came to a full stop at the STOP signs.
And that included Police vehicles.
So if I ever get stopped for not coming to a full stop at a STOP sign in Rochester, I will politely LAUGH IN THEIR FACE.

We have some signs in Cloudcroft that I treat as Yields if there's no traffic about, ESPECIALLY if there's snow! There's one on a downhill grade that if there's a significant amount of snow, you better hope you get lucky! And there's a pizza place 50 yards or so away that always has a string of cars, so it can be tricky. In Alamo and other places, I pretty much treat them 100% as proper Stops.

Heck, here you can have trouble on flat surfaces because they do such lousy job on the streets where I live. ARGH......

As I mentioned yesterday a STOP sign here means you MUST stop. Yield signs are triangular here with GIVE WAY on them. If the road is clear you can carry on without stopping but must stop and yield to oncoming traffic. I'm sure there are a lot of people driving that do not know the road sign meanings or simply ignore them.

Exactly. :o
Same goes for not using a phone while you drive.
I walked into work one night and a cop drove past me on his phone.
You know that wasn't business because if it was he'd be on his radio. :o
