I worked for a major police department through the '90s. At that time, if an officer did something that was bad but within policy, the department defended them. If it was outside of policy, they were hung out to dry. And policy was updated, as was training. If the situation was really bad, the entire department was run through remedial training to try to prevent a recurrence.
When I started, the chief was a really good guy. He had started in that department, had been a motorcycle cop, advanced through the ranks, got appropriate high-level degrees, and eventually became chief of police. And then a couple of bad incidents happened that resulted in fatalities. The first one was an officer being a little over-aggressive, put a suspect in a choke-hold, triggered a vagus nerve reaction and the suspect had a heart attack and died. The second was a suspect massively high on drugs, wandering around a large apartment complex with a shotgun screaming obscenities. Because of the size of the complex, multiple units responded. They finally cornered the suspect, he didn't comply with being ordered to drop the shotgun, something triggered the cops and they opened fire. He was hit a ridiculous number of times, including a round through the bottom of the foot.
The chief resigned afterwards, taking the fall. And the entire department went through retraining to try to prevent something like that from happening again.
Barbie should have never been hired for that position in the first place. Her degree is in poli sci, and as far as I can see she has zero background in law enforcement or law. She is grossly unqualified for a post that should absolutely require top-level experience in law and law enforcement.
That is the reason behind every appointment that he makes. None of them are qualifieed for their jobs and are only there to destroy their department. :o :o :o
Through the bottom of the foot? UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad to say, we need more people like that police chief. :o Hugs, Jon
