Last Week's Movie Quote...
Ma Joad: Rich fellas come up an' they die, an' their kids ain't no good an' they die out. But we keep a'comin'. We're the people that live. They can't wipe us out; they can't lick us. We'll go on forever, Pa, 'cause we're the people.
Yes, it comes from the 1940 classic, "The Grapes of Wrath".
It's the story of struggle during the Great Depression.
It starred Henry Fonda, Jane Darwell, and John Carradine...

Date: 2024-09-17 09:25 pm (UTC)I like books about films. William Goldman wrote like three books about his experiences as a script doctor and working in/with Hollywood that are quite amazing. Among other things, he wrote the scripts for The Princess Bride, Butch Cassidey and the Sundance Kid, etc. I'm not into actor bios per se, though I've read some great ones, like on Groucho Marx and Gracie Allen.

Date: 2024-09-17 10:30 pm (UTC)The Gracie book was written by George Burns, and it was perhaps the first book that I read that I experienced the voice of the author in my head.

Date: 2024-09-18 02:40 am (UTC)Might have been. I should look and see if there's an ebook version, I wouldn't mind reading it again. I might still have the hard back, but it was a long time ago that I read it.
