Bummer News.....
Aug. 2nd, 2024 05:55 pmI was supposed to see Areosmith on their farewell tour last October and then the postponed the tour because Steven Tyler, the lead singer was having throat issues.
The tour date for Minnesota was finally rescheduled for January 2025.
Now I just read that they have cancelled the tour completely and retire from touring. :o :o :o
Apparently Steven Tyler's throat is not recovering enough to perform through a tour. :( :( :(
I have never seen them perform and was really looking forward to it.
Is there any bright side?
Well, whenever Ticketmaster gets around to issuing refunds, that will be almost $700 back on my credit card. :o
That will come in handy with all the bloody car rentals I am having to make. ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date: 2024-08-04 02:29 am (UTC)Oh, yeah! I think he was on tour in Australia that he realized something was seriously wrong with his voice. [flips to Wikipedia...] Can't find a direct cite off-hand, but did find this reference: "His voice was once classed as a tenor prior to his throat surgery; it is now a baritone.[40]"

Date: 2024-08-04 06:02 am (UTC)Yeah, it's pretty dramatic. I'm going to see if I can find more on it. I'm surprised the Wikipedia article didn't detail it more.

Date: 2024-08-04 06:34 am (UTC)Found a couple of things. He apparently had non-cancerous polyps successfully removed in Australia in '87, resulting in a 'more resonant' voice. I think he stopped reaching for the really high notes. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/elton-john-throat-surgery/. And here's another article of singers who had similar problems: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/elton-john-throat-surgery/. Julie Andrews had similar surgery, but it was unsuccessful and she lost her singing voice.

Way too expensive.
Praying the bank comes through with a loan soon.
I can't afford to keep renting a vehicle. Already spent about $1700.00.
