She admits in an upcoming book that she shot and killed their puppy because he misbehaved.

She completely misread her base, the room, and the country if she thought this would help her electoral chances. If she ever runs for office again, it'll get thrown right back in her face and she'll never live it down.

Not that I would ever vote for a Repub, but I will never vote for anyone that is cruel to animals. EVER.
And I can only hope that a lot of people feel that way.

I assume that in context this is a story about how poor her family was and how they couldn’t afford the time or the food to train a dog. Which, even if true, still reflects badly on her because the dog had already been around for over a year, and what poor person keeps a dog around for over a year without finding some way to make it useful?
And then to shoot it, rather than find someone - anyone - who would take in a dog, even for free… Well, that’s not sound adult behavior, that’s just revenge.
