disneydream06Last night I watched a dvd from a collection of "Holiday" aka Christmas movies that I have.
Sounds good, right?
OMg this movie was so not a Christmas movie.
It was called, "All Mine To Give".
It's about an immigrant couple of Scotland that settles in the midwest of the United States.
They battle the prejudices of the time period. Prejudices that would probably apply to the Mexicans and other Hispanic peoples trying to come to this country. Sorry, I digress.
Anyway, the couple slowly become part of the community, and then they start to grow a family.
They eventually had 6, I think it was, kids.
One of the kids gets sick and everybody but mom has to move out. The kid recovers and the rest of the family comes home. Then dad gets sick, but does recover. :(
Mom runs herself into the ground trying to take care of the family. She get sick, and she dies too.
On her death bed she told her oldest son, probably about 14 years old that he needs to take care of his brothers and sisters and find homes for all of them. :o
At first the town tries to tell them what to do, but he stands his ground and finds homes for all his brothers and sisters.
The movie ends with him finding a home for the last little sister and then him walking off into the "mountains" to find a life for himself.

With in the first few minutes a girl killed herself, later the little son died, and then later husband died. :o
The two movies are good on their own, but they are so not Holiday movies, imho. :o
